MICHELLE BOMBE

FIRST INDUCTEE FROM THE CLASS OF ’81 AS

LHS DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI - 2006

The Class of ’81 is proud to recognize Michelle as our first inductee as LHS Distinguished Alumni. The Academic Society of Lincoln High School presents the awards each year to select LHS graduates who are determined to have made a significant contribution to society. The awards are given annually at a Homecoming event held in the high school cafeteria immediately following the parade. A metallic laser picture of the individual on a wooden plaque is permanently displayed at the high school opposite Alice Arena. More information can be found at VINCENNES LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI listing.  Michelle joins a distinguished list of LHS grads who have received this respected award.

After graduating from Lincoln in 1981, Michelle attended Vincennes University and subsequently the University of Evansville where she earned a degree in Theater in 1985. She then continued her education at the University of Texas, where she earned a Master’s degree in Theater Design in 1989. Since 1991, she has been on the faculty of Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where she is an associate professor of Theater. Her titles include Director of Theater and Resident Costume Designer at Hope.

Upon accepting the award after the parade on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, Michelle said “I am very honored by this award.” She said her teachers at LHS taught her that a tough attitude can take you through a lot. “It’s about making a difference using your talents,” she said. “It was mostly the sense of excellence that my teachers instilled and the opportunities that were offered to me here.” Michelle ran cross country in high school and today in addition to her professional responsibilities she is a marathon runner. She is also the mother of two children, daughter Alli and a son, Griffin.

NOTE: Classmates wishing to support Michele can do so by contributing to her efforts in an upcoming run to support a worthy cause. Please read and contribute if you can:

Information rec’d Sept. 2006:

I am running the Chicago Marathon next month as a part of Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. My brother and father
both died of lymphoma so this is a special cause for me. So far I have raised over $2,000 for the organization- but am still short of my goal of $3,500. So excuse my shameless plea for money- feel free to delete and move on! But if you are interested- it is a tax deductible contribution and I really think the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a very worthy organization. If you would like to use a credit card, my web site is http://www.active.com/donate/tntvirtual/vtntMBombe
If you would rather send a check, please make it out to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and mail to my home address Michelle Bombe 4687 Cherry Street Holland, MI 49423
Many thanks for considering- even small donations add up!

All the best,
Michelle
